Why use organic cotton, bamboo rayon, silk and recycled polyester?
Eco-friendly and sustainable fabrics reduce the carbon footprint of both the textile industry and the consumer.
– Organic cotton is produced without the use of chemicals or pesticides. The fabric we use is GOTS certified organic cotton fabric.
– Bamboo is naturally sustainable, and quick to grow, harvest and replenish. The fabric we use is Oeko-Tek certified rayon from bamboo.
– Silk is inherently natural because it’s made from the silk worm cocoon, not chemically processed.
– Recycled polyester is made out of recycled plastic bottles or even recycled polyester fabric. While polyester does not biodegrade, recycling polyester can help reduce our landfill problem. It also uses less energy than what’s needed to produce virgin polyester.
What are the benefits of mulberry silk floss?
100% natural, odorless and hypo-allergenic: Silk contains a natural protein called sericin and 18 other amino acids which are similar to those in human skin. This natural material is the least likely to provoke allergic reactions.
Soft, light and durable: Silk filling is extremely soft and lighter than synthetic fillings while providing the same warmth. Silk fiber is extraordinarily strong and resilient, since silk floss adheres and bonds together. Even after years of use, silk filling retains its softness and layering textures.
Safe, comfortable and chemical-free: Silk floss has passed flammability lab testing, therefore it is a safe filling material for bedding. There are no chemicals involved in the growing of the silkworm or the silk floss processing.
Breathable, comfortable and hugging effect: Silk floss filling is breathable because of its layering structure. For those babies who tend to sweat at night, silk-filled bedding can help absorb and release moisture into the air, regulating body temperature to keep babies and toddlers from feeling too cold or too hot. It also wraps and drapes effectively around the child’s body to eliminate the cold spots. This improves your child’s quality of sleep.
Easy maintenance: Silk floss is mould and mildew resistant due to the natural proteins, and you can simply remove the silk filling and machine wash the cotton or bamboo cover. With proper use, there is no need to wash or air out the silk floss filling. In rare circumstances, like milk spilled onto the filling, you can hand wash the filling in cold water and hang to dry.
Eco-friendly and sustainable: Petroleum-based products like polyester are detrimental to the environment on many levels. But silk floss comes from renewable resources – the cocoon matures in about 50 days which is a relatively short amount of time. It does not require much land or water to bring silkworms to full growth and develop the silk floss. Therefore, no ecological footprint is left. The most important thing is that it requires no chemicals for growth or processing, which means less pollution for our environment.
What is mulberry silk floss?
Mulberry silk is the highest quality silk you can purchase on the market. It comes from silkworms that are raised in captivity under optimum conditions and are fed an exclusive diet of mulberry leaves. After the silkworms mature, they will weave cocoons. The silk floss is obtained from the cocoons and is hand stretched evenly (usually 4-5 people stretch the silk to the required shape and size and more layers are added until the required thickness is obtained). Thousands of years ago, the Chinese developed this process, making them the world’s experts in producing the best quality silk floss.
What is the AZO dyes and risk?
The name azo comes from azote, the French name for nitrogen. Azo compounds refer to chemical compounds used as coloring agent. They have excellent coloring properties, mainly in the yellow to red range as well as lightfastness. The textile industry has long used these dyes to get the vivid and bright colors. Some chemicals release amines, which are harmful. Given that baby’s skin has a natural sensitivity, the health risk of exposure to azo based dyes is very high. The key benefit of azo-free dyes is the removal of the metallic component and reduce the opportunity to provoke allergy reaction. Low impact dyes and print also treads softly on our earth.
Why do we choose bamboo fabric?
Bamboo fabric is an eco-friendly and sustainable fiber, with many desirable properties:
It’s absorbent with excellent wicking ability, making it ideal for use next to the skin
It’s able to retain antibacterial qualities even through multiple washings
Sustainable and fast growing bamboo plants thrive without pesticides and herbicides
Bamboo fabric keeps baby insulated – cool or warm in any seasonal temperature
How do you verify the highest quality of silk floss filling?
The best quality silk floss has a soft shine and pearly white with long fibers which naturally bond together. Poor quality silk floss is broken and is yellowish with short fibers. Poor quality silk floss is often mixed with artificial silk fiber, tussah silk and other blended silk fibers.
Baby Sleep Tips
Learn your baby’s signs of sleepiness. Most babies provide signals when they are getting tired: rubbing eyes, pulling ears, getting cranky. Once your baby starts showing those signals, cuddle your baby to bed. Don’t wait. Otherwise your baby will be overtired and getting more difficulty to fall into sleep.
Establish a bedtime routine. Try using calming rituals that follow the same pattern each night. Create the mood by giving your baby a warm bath, reading stories, cuddling, rocking or playing lullabies. Sleeping sack will help baby develop sleeping routine. Especially when you travel outside, bring the same sleeping sack for your baby. Your little ones will feel the same and cuddle it into sleep.
Put your baby to bed awake and give her time to fall asleep on her own. Usually between six to eight weeks of age, you can start putting your baby down to sleep when he or she is still awake. Giving your baby a chance to “self soothe”.
Put your baby to sleep on her back. To reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (CFSID) recommends that all babies be put to sleep on their backs. Also be sure that no loose bedding or stuffed toys are in the crib near the baby.
Place your baby to sleep in a crib next to the adult’s bed for first 6 months. Room sharing means placing your baby to sleep in a crib within arm’s reach of where you sleep. This may mean putting your baby’s crib next to your bed in your room, or putting a mattress next to his or her crib in your baby’s room.
Why do we feel sleepwear tight?
Sleepwear fits a bit tight in term of chest, seat circumference, thigh circumference. Because our design and size have to comply with the maximum dimensional criteria set out with Children’s Sleepwear Regulations. Rayon from bamboo fabric is quite stretching. Feel comfortable even if the fitting is tight.
